Senior Machine Learning Engineer (f/m/x)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Remote (Germany)

Your mission:

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the intelligence layer of our platform. Working with billions of mobility and location data points, you will design, implement, and deploy advanced machine learning models that uncover patterns such as commuting behavior, traffic flows, and real-world consumer journeys. Your work will enable smarter decision-making across our products and help automotive partners, mobility providers, and global brands create meaningful in-car experiences.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end ML projects - from prototyping new algorithms to deploying production-grade models. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, backend developers, product owners, and domain experts to ensure that your models not only deliver high accuracy, but also scale reliably within our production systems.

How you contribute to our success:
  • Turning data into insights: You analyze large-scale mobility and behavioral datasets to identify patterns, validate hypotheses, and build predictive models that directly shape product decisions.

  • Developing production-ready models: You design, train, and deploy machine learning models with a strong focus on scalability, robustness, and maintainability across the full lifecycle.

  • Driving innovation in mobility AI: You explore advanced algorithms and statistical approaches to solve complex challenges such as driver segmentation, demand forecasting and geospatial modeling.

  • Building ML pipelines: You work with MLOps best practices (e.g. MLflow, Kubeflow, Docker, Kubernetes) to ensure seamless deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of models.

  • Collaborating across teams: You partner with data engineers on pipeline design, with backend teams on integration, and with product teams to translate business needs into actionable AI solutions.

  • Promoting a data-driven culture: You act as a mentor for colleagues, share knowledge about algorithms and best practices, and help establish strong standards for ML excellence within the company.

What makes you stand out:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field – or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning, Data Science, or Applied Research, including deploying models into production environments.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.

  • Solid understanding of algorithms, statistics, and model evaluation techniques, including handling imbalanced datasets and high-dimensional data.

  • Experience with large-scale data processing (e.g. Spark, Databricks) and working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Hands-on experience with MLOps tools and cloud environments (Azure, GCP or AWS), including containerization and orchestration.

  • Ability to balance research-driven exploration with pragmatic, production-ready solutions.

  • Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • A proactive mindset with a passion for exploring new algorithms, methods, and real-world applications of AI.

  • Fluency in English (German is a plus).

What we offer you:
  • Have an impact on an international and collaborative team of talented people who love what they do and build a strong network through the cross-functional nature of the position.

  • Enjoy an open-minded culture with room for growth.

  • Grow professionally through broad learning opportunities while working across teams and a mix of highly analytical and conceptual tasks on high-profile matters.

  • Use modern tech (Apple Macbook or Lenovo ThinkPad) and equipment in your daily work.

  • Relax during your 30 days of annual leave (+ public holidays).

  • Enjoy our Workation benefit, allowing you to visit your loved ones abroad or experience new places while staying connected.

  • Take care of your well-being with the support of our Egym Wellpass membership.

  • Get to work with our bike leasing through BusinessBike.

  • Enjoy our flexible working hours policy in our open office in Munich’s vibrant Schwabing district, meet up with colleagues in our co-working spaces in Berlin or Paris, or use our work-from-home policy.

  • Have fun and enjoy the great team spirit at regular Team Events & Offsites, Pizza Nights, Game Nights, etc.
